Part One
Tell me a little about yourself? My brother and I grew up here. I never really knew what I wanted to do when I grew up, I worked here and there, and I just kept gravitating back here, and finally I stuck. And now my daughter is a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School and my fond hope is that she’ll come back someday and be here. My brother’s children and 5 and 10 so we have about a generation and a half covered.
What do you do at Basin Harbor Club? We have a staff of about 320 when we’re fully staffed, and we have about 370 to 390 guests when we’re really full. And about 150 of those and under the age of 15, so there are a lot of kids all the time. And my brother Bobby and I are the general managers. His area of expertise is back of the house things, physical plant things, and mine is front of the house, so that would be operations or marketing.
I like to go out and see what people are doing. If you look at guests and they have smiles on their faces than you know we are doing things right. And if you look at staff and they have smiles on their faces, then you know that they’re taking good care of the guests.
What did you like about Vtrim? For me, the best things about Vtrim were: it made me realize how I was eating. I didn’t really have a huge weight problem but as time had gone a long I had just got heavier and heavier. I had tried other weight loss things and I lost some weight but it would always come right back. Finally, with Vtrim it was easy for me to do because I already ate the right foods, I just had to pay attention to portion sizes, and so cutting down portion sizes was easy.
